Artsy Duplex Seamlessly Brings Together Two NYC Apartments

Hidden inside a former garage building in the West Village of Manhattan, NYC, this jewel of an apartment is a masterpiece of beautiful interior design. It’s actually a duplex penthouse resulted from the unification of two separate apartments. The conversion and the new design were the work of Gluckman Tang Architects and Nina Seirafi Interior Design. The company started out as a studio specialized in art installations and galleries. It evolved into an internationally-renowned company that works in close collaboration with artists and curators.

The architects are constantly seeking new and custom ways to enrich their clients’ human experience. The apartment they designed in Manhattan is full of light so they took the time to carefully reconfigure the space in order to make the most of all the features the home has to offer.

The living and dining areas share an open space with a cohesive decor

The duplex offers a total of 4,180 square feet of living space (around 388 square meters). The columns that remained between the two formerly separate apartments are now concealed within a large storage wall. The wall separated the public spaces from the more private ones but doesn’t run the whole length of the apartment, leaving open spaces on both floors that extend across the full width of the space.

The dining area has a very chic and refined look, being decorated with light colors

The living and dining areas share an open space. They’re both bright and simple, with eye-catching accent colors and sophisticated artwork. The pendant lamp hanging above the dining table is a particularly glamorous piece.

A second, more intimate lounge space is situated on the upper floor and is part of the bedroom suite

The bedroom suite is organized into two spaces. One is the sleeping area with a bed, a wingback headboard and chic side table nightstands. A mirrored space divider is positioned in front of the bed. It hides a casual and comfortable lounge space with a side table that matches the nightstand and a really beautiful coffee table made of several modules.

The public space also includes a home library which has a wall of bookshelves and a skylight. It’s framed by walls that match those on the staircase corridor.

The interior decor is a symphony of delicate and sophisticated colors and materials

The bathroom has a really bright and open look. Its floor is covered in marble and the same material was also used on the walls but not all the way up to the ceiling, leaving a white ribbon exposed.
