Vienna Design Week 2014

Homedit is very excited to be attending this year’s Vienna Design Week, which is Austria’s largest design festival, scheduled this year for September 26 through October 5. In its eighth year of celebrating design, Vienna Design Week 2014 will continue its tradition as being a draw for those interested in and inspired by product, furniture, industrial, graphic, and experimental design, both visible and tangible.

This year’s headquarters for Vienna Design Week is located in the sophisticated Palais Schwarzenberg, Landstrasse, the 3rd district, well known as a baroque Viennese treasure. With its rich history and eye on the arts, it’s the perfect place to springboard a design festival. Last year drew over 30,000 visitors.

The festival colors for Vienna Design Week 2014 are three shades of blue. Creatively, blue chairs throughout the area will mark the locations and help visitors find their way to the Design Week venues.

Vienna Design Week refrains from taking on the characteristics of a trade fair. Instead, the 10-day event incorporates a wide range of partners in a lively setting. Because design is viewed as an essential part of the cultural production, Vienna Design Week showcases how design shapes our material culture, our everyday life, and our world as consumers.

The festival will include displays and presentations on national and international works of product-, furniture-, graphic-, and industrial design, such as experimental approaches. Homedit is excited to check out the interactions between man and object within design scopes, including a focal point of Social Design and Future Urban Mobility exhibit.
