Unique House In Sydney Resembles A Huge Undulating Sculpture
The Crescent House is one of the most interesting and most unusual structures and the reason for that is its structure. Unlike a typical house which usually has all it’s functional clustered within a compact frame, this building is organized into several volumes which are distinct but also connected.
The concrete house is like a giant undulating sculpture, a collection of volumes that are weaving through the gardens and are arranged in sequences, with strategically placed voids and openings designed by give each one a distinct character but also make the ensemble feel like a harmonious whole.

There are a lot of unique design features that make this house stand out and contrast with every other building that surrounds it. The floor plan is definitely unusual as if everything we knew about houses has been reinvented and reimagined. The living area curves around the garden and stretches toward the panoramic views over the Sydney Harbour and the patio design is quite exquisite, allowing this area to be immersed in nature yet feel strongly connected to the house. All of these elements allowed studio Matthew Woodward Architecture to innovate and to create something completely unusual without compromising on functionality but actually taking the concept to a whole new level.
