This is a house built 95% out of wood and in just one day. Actually, the house itself was put together in just 8 hours, on a Friday in the fall of 2017, between 7 am and 3 pm. The project is called Sixty-One and was developed by architecture studio Atelier Štěpán, Freedomky for a client located inTachov, in the Czech Republic.
Once the main structure was completed, the terrace and the carport were added. In total there’s a usable area of 56 square meters not including the exterior features. This is a modular home with stacked volumes that form a two-story layout. The modules were pre-built and transported on site where they were furnished and equipped with all the necessary details.
As mentioned, wood is the primary material used throughout the entire project. The house a larch wood facade, flooring and stairs made of solid oak, wood fibre insulation panels on the walls and furniture made of birch plywood. The interior design is simple and limited mostly to a combination of white walls and wooden floors plus matching furniture. There’s a kitchen, a dining area, a small bedroom and a few auxiliary spaces, all organized in a practical but also friendly manner. Thanks to space-saving solutions such as wall beds and multifunctional furniture, the architects were able to maximize the floor plan of this small house in a really great way.
