Two-storey single family contemporary residence

L71 is a two-storey single family residence located in Bangkok, Thailand. It has a long and narrow shape and a minimalist, contemporary design. The house was designed by OFFICE [AT], a Bangkok-based design studio. The shape of the house was dictated by the site which was also long and narrow. That meant the architects had to create a design that would adapt perfectly to the site.

They created this beautiful contemporary residence that contains four bedrooms, a dining room and a family room. All these rooms are north facing and have floor-to-ceiling glass walls that allow the inhabitants to admire the exterior views. The rooms were functionally organized. The social areas such as the living room are located in the front part of the house and the private spaces are at the back facing the swimming pool. Also, the owners liked to entertain their friends so they wanted the living room to be large and spacious. It’s why they extended it.

The second floor of the house was also extended so that it would provide shade for the swimming pool and the outdoor terrace. The house has a double roof, the lower part being reinforced with concrete and slabs and the upper roof just a metal sheet. For the rest of the building the architects used plastered brick to create the walls and tinted glass for the rest.
