The name refers to traditional Norwegian boathouses that have been used to store boats and fishing gear. However, today it’s not the case anymore.

Most of these boathouses are now used as summer houses. They have been converted into cozy homes and got a new use. The one you see here is a new construction. The original boathouse that use to be on this site was in very bad shape when the owners found it and it had to be torn down. However, they’ve decided to preserve the idea and to build a new, similar structure.
