Town@HouseStreet a new hospitality concept

Town@HouseStreet is not the name of a particular residence but the name of a concept. The start came from Italian architect Simone Micheli who opened the first four suits in a commercial ground floor space at Via Goldoni 33 in Milan.Suring Milan Design Week 2010. The main idea is to take vacant and decaying urban shop spaces and turn them into small hotels.

The idea is actually not that bad. It would allow the owners of such spaces to make them useful again, to turn them into something attractive. It’s an idea that would work best is popular tourist locations, where people would actually need them and where it wouldn’t be just another uninspired change.

The project first started in Milan but it then extended all over the world. Here’s the original project that turned the first floor of a commercial space in Milan into prime prime hotel suits facing the street. Every space has an independent entrance and guest access is completely automated through an alphanumeric keypad. This is how those degraded or abandoned spaces can be turned into inviting hotel rooms. It’s an idea that we can all use as inspiration. So if you’re the owner of a space that doesn’t seem to help you much, maybe you’ll have better luck by using this concept.
