Tiny Urban Home With Two Loft Areas And A Fold-Down Deck

If you’re in the market for a tiny house on wheels or if you’re just curious to see what’s possible to achieve with a very limited amount of space, you’re really going to enjoy checking out this project. This is the Urban Kootenay, a tiny mobile home designed and built by studio TruForm Tiny

As expected, it’s small but at the same time very cleverly organized. On the outside, you’re greeted with a simple and fairly eclectic design, a mixture of dark-colored metal siding and cedar wood accents. A whole array of small windows of different shapes and proportions are dotted across the facades and a set of double French doors mark the entrance. There’s a cute overhang above the doors and a small fold-down deck that can be used as an extension of the living area.

The double French doors have clear glass center panels which together with the windows on either side let in lots of light

The interior of this tiny home is not as dark as the exterior design suggests. The white shiplap accent walls and light-colored furniture keep the space nice and bright and help to maximize and take full advantage of the little natural light that comes through the small windows. The pine ceiling and the hickory flooring add a lot of warmth to the interior without fully making it look like that of a rustic cabin.

There’s obviously not a lot of space to spare so the doors lead straight into the middle of the living area which has a built-in couch similar to a window nook bench with storage underneath. Above it there’s a little loft area for some extra storage which can be accessed by climbing a ladder. The kitchen is part of the main area. It has a peninsula with an L-shaped gray counter and a white porcelain tile backsplash with a cool geometric design. A pull-out leaf allows the counter to expand and to include a small dining table for two. That leaves two more areas: the bathroom which has a shower and a washer and dryer combo and the loft bedroom just above it with a built-in set of shelves acting as a closet.

Although small, the kitchen is well-organized and has sufficient space on the counters and inside the cabinets
