A Tiny House On Wheels With Retractable Stairs And Other Cool Features
Tiny houses are not uncommon these days, with new and innovative designs and techniques being continuously developed by studios such as Build Tiny based on New Zealand. The studio recently completed a project in Katikati, Bay of Plenty from New Zealand. It’s a very compact and mobile house on wheels which can be easily transported to a new location if and when desired.
It’s made possible by its lightweight structure and reduced dimensions which are only 7.2 x 2.4 meters. Such a small space is difficult to furnish and organize but with careful planning and a creative mind great results are possible.
Inside this tiny house there’s a sleeping area, an office, a living space, a kitchen and a bathroom. Where does it all fit, you might ask. It’s all revealed by the clever interior design which showcases a loft bedroom on one side and a loft office on the other. This gets two areas out of the way so to speak and leaves the ground floor open for the kitchen and living area plus the bathroom. Even so, the floor space is limited, especially given that access to the upper areas is needed as well.
To solve this requirement without taking away precious floor space the designers created a really cool retractable staircase which can slide inside a custom-built wall unit when not in use. It provides access to the sleeping area. In order to access the loft office one uses a ladder installed on the kitchen wall, with the custom cupboard featuring a step-like module that can be used for support. The Millennial Tiny House can be rented through Airbnb by anyone curious to experience what living in such a tiny space is like or is in need of temporary accommodation and wants to try something different for a change.
