A Timeless Countryside Barn Split Into Two Contrasting Halves
The idea behind this rather unusual-looking building was to create a structure which doesn’t follow any trends and is not defined by time, technology or by a specific style. That effectively turns this building into a timeless or better said atemporal construction. The inspiration for its design came from the typical sheds found in the Chilean countryside which surrounds the house. This was a project completed in 2019 by architecture studio 2172 / asociados.
The site on which the structure was built is quite large and surrounded by trees. It slopes down towards a lake and offers a series of beautiful and relaxing views. The house itself seeks to become a part of the landscape and it manages to do that by retaining a shed-like design and using locally-sourced materials which reference the surroundings. The horizontal bottom half of the house is clad in wood and has a barn-like design. The top half has a gabled roof, clean lines and a mode abstract and modern appearance.
