The Surprisingly Stylish Turkish Airlines CIP Lounge

We usually expect airport terminals to be very busy, simple, not very user-friendly and of course filled with uncomfortable plastic chairs. In some cases this is true. However, there are some exceptions. One of them is the Turkish Airlines CIP lounge. This place is unlike any other one.

The Turkish Airlines CIP lounge is unique not only because of the unusual shape of the spaces but mostly because of the striking interior design. This space has been designed by Autoban and it’s situated in Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport. The Turkish Airlines CIP lounge has a capacity of 2000 people so it’s not small either. So imagine how much more impressive is a design of this scale, especially when it’s stylish and bold as this one.

The main concept behind this design was to basically create a smaller shell of the airport. The most striking and impressive elements are, of course, the curved ceilings and the architectural details. It’s like there are several smaller spaces separated by striking curves and clean lines. There are resting rooms, a restaurant, a tea garden, a library and a movie theatre and they’re all encased in separate spherical pods. It’s definitely an original and very interesting concept. The spaces and especially the chairs and sofas definitely seem to be much more comfortable than the ones usually found in airports.
