The Square Nine Hotel by Isay Weinfeld

Located in Belgrade, Serbia, the Square Nine Hotel impresses with its modern architecture and the way it complements the neighboring buildings. The hotel was a project by Isay Weinfeld and it was completed in 2011. It’s situated in the historic quarter but, even so, its modern allure doesn’t clash with the rest of the structures.

The exterior façade is simple and rather modest, featuring moderate hues and a restraint color palette. It’s a tall building that has been functionally organized in several separate zones. For example, the ground level contains the common areas such as the lobby, the restaurant and a little plaza. It’s an open area with a continuous design. The basement level houses a swimming pool, a gym, a space and a sauna. This is an area devoted to relaxation and exercise.

On the top floor there’s a small bar with panoramic views over the surrounding area. The rest of the hotel is occupied by the guest rooms. There are three different types of rooms, according to their size: 32m2 or 47m2 double rooms and 90m2 suites. They are spread on 5 levels and make a total of 45 rooms. On each floor there’s a hall elegantly decorated. The rooms are cozy and inviting and they have been decorated with wood, stone and leather as well as a variety of vintage furniture pieces.{pics by Matthieu Salvaing}.
