The OZ residence for a young couple with two children

This is the OZ House, another great creation from Swatt-Miers Architects. It’s a very beautiful residence and it’s located in Silicon Valley, California, USA. The designing process started in 2006 and the construction of the house was completed in 2010. The OZ House was designed for a young couple with children. The owners were very clear when they requested that their new home would have a casual, barefoot feel, like a vacation destination. They also wanted strong indoor-outdoor connections.

The house sits on a 2.8 acre site with gentle slopes and beautiful landscaping on all sides. It’s a great location for a family home. The house has an L-shaped plan and it’s divided into two wings. The east volume includes the kitchen and the family room on the ground floor and the children’s bedrooms on the upper level. The south wings includes an office, a media rooms and a guest room on the lower level and a master suite on the second floor.

In the center there’s a common area consisting of a living/dining room. The two wings are connected by a floating glass bridge at the upper level. The lower levels of the two wings are clad in white stucco. The windows are large and the rooms and bright and filled with natural light. The upper level has been designed into two distinct areas. On the north side there’s a motor court accessed by glass doors from the living and dining areas. The south area includes family living spaces.{found on archdaily}.
