The Nolla Cabin Shows Guests How A Zero-Waste Lifestyle Could Be Like

Meet Nolla, a prototype cabin which operates completely off-the-grid and which can be installed n any terrain with no need for a permanent foundation. Nolla means zero in Finnish and this perfectly explains the concept at the very core of this special project. The cabin was designed by Robin Falck for Neste, an energy company from Finland. The goal of the project was to create a structure which visitors can rent in order to experience living close to nature and with a minimal environmental impact.

The cabin was built and furnished using only sustainable materials. It was prefabricated from locally-sourced plywood in only one week and then quickly installed on a private lot off the coast of Helsinki. Because it’s so easy to assemble, disassemble and transform the whole structure, no heavy machinery was needed. Thanks to its A-frame structure and elevated design, the cabin can be installed on pretty much any terrain. It has a triangular window made from polycarbonate for safety reasons and a tiny footprint of only 97 square feet.
