Originally, the hotel was owned by monks. It was a home with minimalist influences and with a rough but charming design. The building is part of a 40-acre organic farm with all sorts and varieties of fruit trees. At one point, it has been restored and transformed into a small hotel. It’s located on the slopes of Mt. Etna and offers views of the Mediterranean Sea. Also, the hotel is surrounded by beautiful and rich vegetation and wonderful landscape. The building itself is a quintessential Italian structure and has a very rich history.

When being restored, the building kept its original charm and is still a unique piece of history. The guests of the Monaci delle terre nere can enjoy a very simple and minimalist interior. The stone walls and exposed beams in the ceiling are just of the many original features that have been preserved. The rest of the décor was designed in a way that would match and continue these elements. The hotel offers six rooms. There are plans to extend it and to eventually reach a number of 12 rooms, after restoring two old stone building located in the vineyard along with the wine cellar.{found on welcomebeyound}.
