The legacy of Mediabistro – a 4,000 square foot loft in Silicon Alley

After selling het online media company, Mediabistro, in 2007, Laurel Touby had big plans that, at the time, involved having a new car with a driver, a new apartment and a new life. But not everything turned out to become reality. She still drives her old car and changing your life is not as easy as it seems. But one thing out of those three was a very realistic goal and, as it turns out, Laurel and her husband now have a 4,000 square foot loft located in the center of Silicon Alley.

The couple bought the apartment in 2009 but they’ve only recently managed to complete the renovations. It was a long project and had plenty of difficulties. It took quite time for the couple to decide on the type of furniture they wanted and even longer for it to arrive at the destination. The loft is filled with custom elements including a plastic and glass coffee table filled with cobalt-blue pigment and a toy taxi which is a copy of an original.

The loft is imposing and even a little dramatic gives its size. However, the interior décor is not overly complicated. In fact, it was kept wimple and elegant, with classical main influences and with only a few accent details that impress with their colors and textures. The décor is a combination of styles. Even though it’s not opulent and wasn’t meant to be particularly impressive, it inevitably stands out with its beauty.

Moreover, even though the accent falls on oversized decorative elements and an overall simple décor, the attention to detail is still amazing and very impressive. It’s very interesting to see how all the colors work together and how everything falls into place. The patterns and textures also always find a way to look harmoniously together. Each room is unique and the amount of custom pieces makes this apartment original and unlike any other.{found on nytimes}.
