Located in Khao Lak, Thailand, the Ingfah Restaurant is like a breath of fresh air. It’s a beautiful outdoor seating restaurant situated between the sky and the fresh green lawn. It was designed by Integrated Field and it’s situated on a site surrounded by buildings and with no sea views. Because of that, the architects had to find a way to compensate through design.
It’s why they chose to emphasize the relation between the lawn and the sky and to make these the limits for the design. The client also wanted this new project to raise the standards for restaurant in the Khoalak area and to impose itself as a model to follow and surpass. He wanted this to be a distinguished destination but one that would also make everyone feel welcomed. To make the restaurant stand out the architects adopted the glow in the dark theme. They made the restaurant look like a lantern that lights up the whole area during the night.
The relationship with the sky is very important for this project. The architects managed to frame the sky views and to adopt a design that is reminiscent of the same theme. The restaurant is also modern and refreshing. The client wanted it to be composed of several small areas rather than a large one. This way it would be more flexible and easier to be rearranged in the future, not to mention that smaller structure are constructed in a shorter period of time. Each structure is a light geometrical shape with a slim skeleton structure framed by fabric.
