The Contemporary G16 House in Brazil

This contemporary building is located in Piracicaba, Brazil, outside the consolidated area of the city. It’s a beautiful residence that was designed by Mira Arquitetos, a team formed of Luís Eduardo Loiola and Maria Cristina Motta. They also worked with several collaborators and they managed to build this beautiful home between 2010 and 2011.The site on which the house sits now features a natural shape and it included a hillside that progressed toward the river-bed. The residence is very close to the historic buildings of the neighborhood Monte Alegre and it stands out with its simple and contemporary design.

The building form an architectural leftover set from the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century and it includes an ancient cane factory, the Saint Peter`s church, the “Monte Alegre” School and “Vila Heloisa”.

The modern addition sits on a lot measuring 16.50m x 31 m. the house was designed in two distinct volumes. One of them is a linear pavilion that houses the kitchen, service areas and an office while the second volume is parallel to the street and includes the private areas such as the bedrooms and bathrooms. The property also includes a garden. The two volumes well defined and in between them there’s a central empty space that makes the transition.
