The Acorn – A Tiny Trailer Home With A Stylish Design And A Taste For Adventure
Today’s featured home is a very small and very charming little structure called Acorn. It’s a tiny home on wheels that we found on Vanclan and it’s such an inspiring build. Created by Backcountry Tiny Homes, this little structure sits on a 16′ x 8′ dual axle utility trailer and has a small but surprisingly roomy interior.
On the outside, the Acorn features cedar and black corrugated metal siding and one of its walls is decorated with a minimalistic and abstract mural depicting two black mountains with white outlines. The black metal siding sections match the roof and that adds a bit of continuity to the design without making it symmetrical or repetitive. The entrance is marked by a door with a white frame and a glass center and it’s through a small wooden deck, just big enough for a couple of folding chairs to fit on it.
The interior of the Acorn measures 90 square feet in total and it’s very compact. As one enters they go straight into a small living room with a sofa bed and a fold-down table. On the wall opposite to the sofa there’s a backlit metal tree. It has a warm glow and adds a bit of mood lighting to the space while also looking rather pretty.
The living area has a comfortable daybed which is framed by two big windows with views of the outside
Large windows let in lots of natural light and also expose the compact interior to the surroundings, creating a feeling of openness and making the Acorn feel less tiny. A small kitchen is adjacent to the living area and in between these two spaces there’s a large shelving unit, a cabinet and a wood stove. The kitchen area has a few essentials such as a small fridge underneath the counter, a sink and a two-burner electric cooktop. The bathroom is tiny but even so there’s enough space in here for a shower, a toilet and a bit of storage. As for the sleeping area, it’s the same as the living room.
