The 25Hours Hotel Brings The Circus And Theater To Vienna
The 25Hour Hotel is located in the Museumsquartier of Vienna, in Austria. Here, at the center of the city, the quirky hotel designed by German firm Dreimeta quickly became a landmark thanks to its uniqueness.
Originally, the hotel had 34 rooms, all circus-themed and featuring an intriguing combination of vintage and contemporary motifs. In between 2011 and 2013, the architects and designers of Dreimeta worked hard at expanding the hotel.
They added another 185 rooms, a sauna, a restaurant, a conference room and a rooftop terrace. The continued the already famous concept of the hotel and used the same theme, making the 6400 square meters of space involved in the project seamlessly blend with the original portion.
As the architects declared, “Vienna is synonymous with the spectacular”, hence the circus theme chosen for the project. The hotel occupies a converted university dormitory and uses theatrical elements and décor features to stand out.
The rooms were personalized with custom-made wallpaper featuring five different designs. They’re colorful, fresh and have an artistic flair that always takes a different form. A lot of quirky features add character to each individual room. For example, in some cases the TV stand is a bunch of stacked vintage suitcases.
Some of the rooms have access to a terrace. On the terrace you can find the bathtub which, up here, benefits from privacy despite the overwhelming openness.
The sauna occupies a 250 square meter area and it’s a marvelous space that takes perfect advantage of the eclectic design used throughout. The lounge area features an underwater-themed, 7 meter long mosaic custom designed by Berlin-based artist Olaf Hajek.
The suspended chairs are reminiscent of a carousel and give the sauna a playful and casual feel.
The restaurant can accommodate up to 140 guests. The heavy velvet drapes and the array of vintage mirrors displayed on the walls transform this area into a spectacular and theatrical space.
The conference room is bold and colorful. The soft, modern lighting gives it a pleasant and comfortable look while the different-colored chairs give it a dynamic feel.
The lounge area has a flexible layout and a very casual décor. A series of seating nooks offer semi-private lounge spaces. The lighting is soft and subtle, with a little bit of industrial flair.
