Taika Mug

I love big and shiny coffee mugs that also have a funny design or drawing on. When I wake up in the morning and prepare my special treat for the day , which is coffee, I use my collection of mugs, all colourful and nice. I like holding them in the morning and in the evening, too, filled with steaming tea and day dreaming until I finish drinking. I enjoy the heat of the mug and, every now and then, I have a look at the pattern on the mug. This is when I like holding a Taika Mug from iittala. These mugs are designed by Klaus Haapaniemi and they reflect some of the mythical creatures and legends of the North.

They reflect the Finnish traditional patterns and also some elements taken from nature. They are made of porcelain and are simple fascinating by the meticulous details that cover them. They combine all kinds of shades of blue and red or are painted in black and white, but no matter what model you choose, you will certainly love it. The capacity of such a mug is about 12 oz (35 cl) and they are perfectly safe to use in the microwave oven, in the freezer and even in the dishwasher. The exquisite design and the delicate handle complete the picture and the price seems just right – $22.
