This kitchen was designed for a family of four. As it most often happens, the kitchen is perceived as a social space and not just a work area. it’s why most require renovation. in this case, the owners of this residence located in Queensland, Australia turned to Sublime Architectural Interiors for help when the kitchen needed a makeover.
The remodeled itchen you see now is stage one of a contemporary replica. Before remodeling the space, the designers and the clients came up with a list of requirements. The main problem with the old kitchen was that it seemed too small. It didn’t have enough space for storage and for sitting and it seemed unpractical and always cluttered. In order to solve that problem, the designers took a radical approach for this U-shaped space.
It wasn’t just the kitchen that was being renovated.l The whole residence was in the process of being remodeled and modernized. It was why it was also important to try to create continuity between the kitchen and the rest of the house as not to be any major discrepancies in terms of style.
The first step of the renovation was to make the patio a part of the living and dining area. This also meant that the kitchen could also become a part of that space and that it could have a more airy and balanced design. As a result, the kitchen had to share the design of the main social area. There were many challenges to this project, some of them big and some small. For example, deciding where the TV should go was not as easy as it should have. It had to be visible from all the areas but not become the focal point of the decor.
The kitchen itself is simple, modern and functional. It also has a sophisticated look, mostly given by the use of stylish decorations such as the kitchen island or the wall decor. Now this modern family has a new space where its members can gather in the morning and plan their day together.
