Stylish Wicker Furniture, Great For Patios And Other Outdoor Spaces

Wicker furniture is probably the most common type of furniture used in outdoor spaces. It’s appreciated for its lightweight design, casual look and functionality. When spring gets comfortable after a long winter, all everyone wants to do is finally spend some time outdoors. People are excited about being able to sit on the patio or on the terrace and relaxing in an armchair. Most often, it’s a wicker armchair.

The term “wicker” is of Scandinavian origin and it defines a woven fabric formed onto a rigid material. It’s usually used for furniture and it’s often made from material of plant original. However, plastic fibers can also be used. Wicker furniture is very appreciated mostly because it’s lightweight and yet it’s very sturdy. This makes it perfect for patios, porches or terraces because it has to be removed during the cold season and it’s easier to do that when the furniture is not heavy.

Natural wicker can be made from plant parts such as the cores of cane or rattan stalks but other materials like reed or bamboo can also be used. Synthetic wicker is also a nice option. It’s durable and strong but it tends to lack the elegance of natural wicker. It does, however, have its advantages which include the fact that it requires less maintenance and that it comes in a variety of textures, designs and colors. Synthetic wicker is often preferred for outdoor use because it doesn’t get damaged by weather as easily.
