A Stunning Bay House Nestled In A Forest Clearing

Beautiful views and spectacular landscapes inspire architects and designers to capture these marvels of nature into their creations. It’s how projects like the Peconic House are born. First there was the site, a stunning piece of land in Hampton Bays, US. It had a gorgeous view of the Peconic Bay and a very nice topography. Then came the house. The client requested a multi-generation family-retreat to be built here, one which would live as little imprint on the site as possible but which would also make the most of its natural surroundings. The architects at Mapos made sure to turn this dream home into reality.

The existing fauna was, of course, preserved. A 70 foot tall sycamore tree near the center of the meadow became particularly important. In fact, the house was designed to preserve the sun exposure of the tree and this turns it into a focal point for the whole site. In addition to that, the house features a green roof with native meadow grasses which camouflage it and allow it to seamlessly blend in. A terrace as big as half of the entire floor plan sits parallel to the house and features an infinity edge lap pool at one end. All of these elements combined with a simple and timeless interior design and a carefully-selected array of materials and finishes turn this house into a wonderfully peaceful and welcoming retreat.
