The Most Stunning And Modern Pedestrian Bridges Across The World

When the new Cau Vang bridge opened this June, the whole world was mesmerized by its beauty and that inspired us to do some research to find out what other such amazing and modern bridges the world has to offer. We found quite a few of them and we selected our top favorites which we’re going to share with you right now. After seeing some of them you’ll probably want to go there in person so maybe it’s also time to plan your next vacation.

The Golden Bridge – Da Nang, Vietnam

Completed in June 2018, Cau Vang which means “gold bridge” was constructed in less than a year and the initial design was created by TA Landscape Architecture. You can find this amazing bridge in the mountains above Da Nang, in Vietnam. It sits 1,400 meters above sea level and it’s supported by a pair of giant hands which look like they’ve been carved out og large blocks of stone and have a weathered finish. The bridge is 150 meters long and offers sweeping views across the mountainscape.

The Moses Bridge – Halsteren, The Netherlands

This is a very special bridge that lets you walk across water, being reminiscent of the biblical story which told how Moses split the Red Sea, hence the name of the project. The reason why the bridge was built this way is because it’s located in Halsteren, in an area which is a defense line consisting of a series of fortresses dating back to the 17th century. Naturally, a bridge that arches above a moat wouldn’t be very suitable for such an area so RO&AD Architecten created this invisible bridge which blends in with the landscape and can’t be seen from a distance as water comes all the way up ti its edge. The bridge is built entirely out of Accoya wood and is waterproof.

Mirrored bridge – Gipuzkoa, Spain

Designed by Vaumm, this pedestrian bridge from Errenteria, Gipuzkoa, in Spain stands out by blending in. In other words, the bridge’s mirrored polished aluminum cladding reflects the surroundings and allow it to disappear into the city and this is what makes the structure so special in the first place. The design is playful and fun and blurs all boundaries  and looks quite futuristic. If you’re ever in the area, keep an eye for this awesome bridge because if you’re not careful you can easily miss it.

The High Trestle Trail Bridge – Madrid, USA

The High Trestle Trail Bridge from Madrid, US over half a mile long and connects more than 600 miles of trail in central Iowa, being one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the US. It was developed by RDG Planning & Design and the inspiration for its unusual structure came from the region’s history. The bridge mimics the structure of an old mine shaft being built like a tunnel or steel cribs. These steel elements are angled in such a manner that the bridge looks like a time-travel tunnel, especially at night when the blue LED lights are on.
