The Only Inspiration You’ll Need to Spring Clean Your Desk

Winter months are easy to spend at home, warm in bed with your Netflix and your pets. Or rather, we wish we could all do that during these sunless days. Instead you’re probably sitting at a desk that’s covered in papers and sticky notes and the occasional paperclip. Less sun and exercise means less motivation to clean and keep things organized. But now that spring is almost here, it’s time to roll up your sleeves. Take a look at these five types of desks and decide how your desk needs freshening up.

Classic is just another word for timeless. The best part about classic desk styles is that you can get creative with what you probably already have in your office. A vintage desk is the perfect anchor for even the latest and greatest technologies. Keep the top clean and clear with separate storage for papers or files. And what do you do with the empty space leftover? Display a potted plant and some pretty storage like a catch-all or a pastel pencil box. (Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Eclectic Desk

Eclectic spaces are probably my favorite. A good eclectic desk will incorporate patterns and plants into your office and perfectly balance whites and wood tones. These desks are also great for all those inspiring quote printables you find around the Internet! Print a few and tape them above your workspace to keep you going throughout the afternoon slump. One more thing. Being the best place to mix and match, make sure your storage is different yet cohesive. Instead of buying a set of matching wire baskets, opt for one wire one, a patterned box and a brightly colored ring dish. And don’t forget your metallic ceramic animal. Every eclectic desk has one. (Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

The modern desks can be a little difficult to achieve but the one linking aspect is the fact that they are all clean. Very clean. Keep your papers files, your pens in the drawer, your paperclips off the desk, your sticky notes in a row. Go for the desk accessories that are black and white with maybe one pop of color. When you’re looking for things to decorate, opt for pieces that are simple and linear. (Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4,)

Masculine Desk

I think masculine desk spaces are so comforting. They consist of lots of deep dark wood grains and weathered leather and moody colors. It certainly helps to have a few leather covered notebooks within reach as well. Choose a desk light that has metallic tones like bronze or copper. Paired with a inspirational yet striking framed quote, you’ll have the desk of every man’s dreams. (Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Minimal Desk

You might have guessed that while I’ve been telling you what to add to other desk styles, the tips are completely opposite for minimal offices. Forget about the need to decorate. Minimal desks thrive on simplicity and scarcity. Literally your computer and a lamp are all you need to achieve a minimal desk. That being said, you want to make sure you can keep this style by giving yourself plenty of room elsewhere for office storage, be that drawers or baskets or even an old wardrobe. But you’ll find the lack of things at your workspace has a very zen effect. (Source: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
