The company Movable Roots specializes in designing and building mobile homes which are basically tiny houses on wheels. They create custom projects and one of their latest ones is the Cathouse. This is a house built for a couple and their four cats and it’s interesting in a few different ways.
Compared to lots of other similar structures it has a clean and rather unique layout. The bathroom is separated from all the other spaces for increased privacy and although there’s not a lot of space inside there was room for a living area, a kitchen and two lofted bedrooms.
The house as built on a 28′ trailer and inside it has a total of 350 square feet of living space if we also count the two loft areas. On the exterior there’s a nice awning that provides shade and protection from the rain when the house is parked. This is also a wind-sensitive awning which is able to automatically retract when the winds reach a certain speed that could potentially become unsafe. The entrance is marked by a red door with a glass center panel and retractable blinds on the other side.
The living area is quite small but nice and cozy, with a window nook that has a bench and two comfortable lounge chairs facing a wall-mounted TV. The window seat gives a nice space for the cats to line up on and look outside and just be with their owners when they relax and watch TV. The kitchen is part of this main area as well. It’s fairly big and it has lots of storage space. The cabinets have this beautiful dusty blue color which was used throughout the whole interior.
There’s also two lofted bedrooms, one on each side. One is accessible via a ladder and the other has a set of storage stairs leading up to it. They’re connected by a catwalk so both the humans and the cats can walk between them easily without having to go downstairs first.
