This literary unique house can be found in Via Exaudinos, 1/9, 97015 Modica, Italy and it’s a project developed by Vivian Haddad and Marco Giunta. The house is actually not a single volume but a redevelopment of several small independent houses that ere found within the historical city center of Modica, Sicily. The houses are arranged in a circle around a Mediterranean garden. They are all single family homes.

It’s very refreshing to have a design that puts the garden in the heart of the house. Each room has an entrance from the garden as well as a private terrace. As you can see, this place looks really unique and that’s mostly because of the materials that were used. A lot of attention has been given to this aspect. The architects working at this project chose to use natural, ecological and, more important than all, traditional materials from Sicily. They managed to create a combination of stone walls, lime plasters, cane roof, stone and polychrom tiled floors.
