Restaurant experimental design for NOMA Lab

In Denmark you can feel the adrenaline of new experiments if you visit the new NOMA Lab of NOMA Restaurant designed by GXN and situated in a former warehouse. Actually the idea was to transform the former meeting rooms. The intention was to design four central multi-functional storage units where each of them consisted of over five hundred separately formed wooden cubes. Thus, 200M2 room was divided into some other small areas where can be seen the Food Lab, the herb garden, the staff areas and the office.

“Experiment” was the common point of this project. At NOMA the experiment was used as a new stage in the development of their gastronomy while GXN used the experimental design for their new project. All these innovative approaches resulted in a wonderful place where the pleasure of preparing food was increased due to the new created areas. Nordic aesthetic, raw and simple shapes and colors were the main ingredients used for this place.

Digital design methods were also used for this project so that the interior consisted of a three dimensional puzzle of over 5000 pieces which could be assembled without any help. The pieces of furniture have integrated lighting, there are practical storage units which look like some bookcases and STAR lamp, a piece developed by GXN was used as additional lighting for NOMA Lab, creating a special ambiance. Nuances of dark grey and green appear at the kitchen islands while the rest of the interiors keep their white or natural wood nuances.{found on archdaily and pics by Adam Mørk}.
