Pantone Has Announced 2014’s Color Of The Year: Radiant Orchid
The Pantone Color Institute™ designates year after year a color that is to resonate around the world the following year. This color doesn’t necessarily represent the new trend in the world of fashion although it can often have a big influence. It’s a color that captures inside it everything that’s taking place on a global level and it’s a reflection of what the people need, an attitude.
For 2014 Pantone chose Radiant Orchid as the color of the year. It’s a modern and vibrant color which combined purple, fuchsia and pink undertones and has a very joyful presence.
The pallets for spring 2014 also include a variety of other beautiful shades. There’s a very beautiful balance between the light colors or pastels and the vibrant colors. In between them there’s a series of neutrals which serve as a bridge between the two contrasting categories.
These are colors that can mix and combine very beautifully but which, at the same time, stand out on their own and this makes them very versatile. The palette chosen for spring 2014 includes colors such as Placid Blue, Violet Tulip, Hemlock, Sand, Paloma, Cayenne, Celosia Orange and dazzling Blue but the star is, of course, Radiant Orchid, a bold but also delicate color which mixes wonderfully with pastels and also looks vibrant on its own.
