Old building transformed into a Japanese restaurant

We all know that trading industry is difficult. In this domain of activity, especially the foodstuff marketing has taken into account the motto: “Our customer is our master”. I will refer particularly to restaurants, so I will say that owners of this kind of places are very attentive with their services, but also with the location’s appearance. In Chaoyang district, Beijing, China, there is a 382 square meters restaurant designed by Beijing Matsubara and Architects – Hironori Matsubara and Kazunori Yamaguchi, completed in September 2011.

From the exterior, this amazing place attracts by its mysterious design. The exterior wall has a special design that allows people to peek inside and subtle to make them curious. Since the owner had the concept of conveying Japanese Sake Culture to China, in the interior we can see that Sake-bottle is used as a design motif seen all over the place, especially as lighting elements. The entrance features a very elegant and sophisticated patterned gravel floor and a shiny wall that reflects all the light from the room.

The main space where the clients can eat is a combination of modern and old elements. Here, the elegant furniture combined with concrete’s gray tone and a lot of lighting elements is emphasized by the old, rough ceiling that still keeps the fingerprint of the previous decoration. If some clients prefer an intimate atmosphere, the restaurant stays at their disposal with beautiful private rooms decorated with custom-made “cloud lanterns” which are made by a Chinese lantern manufacturer and interesting, curved walls. In addition, the ceiling of the main hall is characterized by the weathering galvanized steel arch, which is also meant to attract customer’s attention to the spaces from the back.
