Start painting the heads of the keys. Be sure not to fill in the grooves or you may have trouble using them afterwards. You’ll want to coat them a few times, just like if you were painting your nails! Also, I found that the more inexpensive the nail polish the better this worked. Obviously, when we paint our nails, we want a thicker, fuller polish, but that leaves some clumpiness with projects like this.

In between coats, use a hairdryer to dry the layer. First, use the heat to dry and then cool it down for a finish. Watch the heat though, your metal keys can get quite hot!

Once the polish is dry, take your clear coat and top them off. This will provide protection, just like it would on your nails, but also create a shiny finish so your keys sparkle a bit in the light!

Once they’re completely dry – start showing them off! After a while, they’ll definitely need a touch-up, but the best part is you can switch out colors! Just use some nail polish remover to take off the old color and start anew!
