For example, a lot of people enjoy the traditional Japanese furniture, the low tables and chairs that make them feel more close to each other. Other traditional Japanese item is the Mushiki. In this case it’s not the foreign nature of the item that makes it interesting and attractive, but its great functionality.

Mushiki is an extremely functional storage system. It’s composed of several compartments that have a round shape and that, when closed, have a very compact look. The piece was created by Spanish designer Tomás Alonso. It has a round shape and it’s a modular piece, meaning that you can change it’s design and add as many drawers as you want. The design itself is not particularly traditional as related to the Japanese culture. However, there are some aspect that are clearly borrowed from that area. One thing is the simplicity that has always been appreciated. Another is the functionality and the the fact the piece is multifunctional.
