Modular Shipping Container Building Which Can Be Collapsed And Relocated
Multidisciplinary agency A Work Of Substance which is based in Hong Kong, Paris and Stockholm recently completed a really project for company Goodman Westlink. The agency tackles a lot of different fields including architecture, landscape and interior design. With this project they attempted to create a modular marketing suite using shipping containers. This is what they came up with: a series of six spaces stacked in groups of three. These six areas were created using four repurposed containers. In the end, the suite is a lot like an actual shipping container home that one could move into which makes this project really exciting and inspiring.
What’s really important in this case is that the building can be collapsed and then transported to a different location with relative ease. It’s one of the key characteristics of this project. Because it can be placed in all sorts of different environments, it was also important for the building to have a minimal impact on the site and the landscape which potentially surrounds it.
This (combined with the fact that the building is made of reclaimed shipping containers) is one of the aspects that make this a good example of sustainable architecture. Of the six spaces created in total, four are enclosed inside the containers, one is an open terrace and one has a glass roof and frame. Glass and wood are the two materials which soften the industrial vibe of the metal container frames, ultimately creating a harmonious structure which communicates beautifully with its surroundings, whatever they may be like.
