The First Of Many Beautiful Modular Cabins With Floating Roofs
This gorgeous cabin situated on a beautiful lakefront site in Lithuania is the first of many to have this design. This is a project created by ŠA atelier with a general goal to create a structure that can adapt to various different contexts and topographies, can be transported to various locations and which has a design which can be easily reproduced.
The solution to everything was to create a modular prefabricated cabin made of individual parts and elements such as walls, columns, floors and so on which can be transported on-site and assembled. This modular system also allows the cabin to take multiple different forms and to have various configurations and sizes.
The first cabin constructed using this system was taken to a lovely site on Apple Island in Lithuania. It has slender legs which raised above the ground and allow it to easily adapt to different types of topographies and a butterfly-inspired roof which collects the rainwater and allows it to the floor.
The cabin is small and measures a mere 23 square meters and yet it’s big enough for two double bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen and a bathroom. There’s also a small open terrace which overlooks the lake. A folding glass door ensures a smooth transition between the indoor and the outdoor and a ramp provides access in and out.
