Modern yet organic residence in Sydney

This lovely house is one of the most stylish and cute you could find out there. It’s a residence located in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. It called the Curl-Curl home and it was a project by Clifton Cole of CplusC Architectural Workshop. The beautiful photographs you see here were sent by photographer Simon Whitbread.

Even though it’s a small house with only 2 bedrooms, it seems so peaceful and inviting and the rooms seems so spacious and bright that it’s hard to look at it without falling in love. The house has a modern design but because of the materials used it seems so organic and cozy that the contrast becomes very visible. The most interesting thing about this house is that it uses light and shadow to define spaces. The orientation was very important in this case.

It’s important to analyze the site before starting designing the house. This way you can take advantage of everything it has to offer, like the natural sunlight or the views. By creating such a bright interior and by bringing the outside in, the house seems definitely larger. It’s a very inviting home and it sits in a very beautiful area, surrounded by vegetation and flooded with natural sunlight. I also particularly enjoy the interior of this house. It’s very similar to the exterior and it uses the same materials. The furniture is very simple and modern and the decorations are tasteful and strategically chosen to add small touches of color.{pictures by Simon Whitbread}
