Modern Feng Shui House With Big Wooden Shutters
Although fairly compact, the 58 House is definitely not lacking style. It’s rich in features and gorgeous design details and it has a ton of character. The house was completed earlier this year by studio 85 Design and is situated in Nại Hiên Đông, Vietnam. As you may know, this is a region where the Feng Shui practice used to be very popular and still is today to some degree. In that light, certain general concepts related to this philosophy have been applied throughout the design of the 58 House in various updated and customized forms. In other words, this is a modern family home based on tradition. It’s structured on two floors and has a total living surface of 230 square meters. The ground floor facade is completely closed for maximum privacy towards the street. In contrast, the upstairs areas have large floor-to-ceiling windows which let in lots of natural light.
The house as a whole is very closely connected to nature and to its surroundings. This results in a very harmonious ambiance as spaces become open to the garden or enjoy their own little green areas. The living room for example has access to a small L-shaped courtyard-type space with plants, garden lights and various other beautiful details. Similarly, the kitchen which is positioned at the back of the house on the ground floor has sliding glass doors that connect it to a small garden. The ground floor also house a bedroom intended for the elder of the family, positioned here for convenience. Three more bedrooms are placed upstairs along with a worship/ meditation room. These spaces are full of light but also manage to stay cool during summer thanks to the insulated roof and also the beautiful folding shutters which extend over the facade.
