Modern Austrian House Extension And Renovation Split Into Separate Volumes
A strong desire to preserve the old house present on this site inspired the owners to collaborate with architecture studio smartvoll and to create a series of extensions for it. The result was a beautiful balance of old and new structures that complement each other and together become the perfect family home. This beautiful Austrian house is situated in Klosternenburg and is currently composed of the original building which was renovated and three new volumes added in 2019. The new volumes include a two-story structure housing the children’s bedrooms, a new living area and a dining room. The focused not only on creating new interior spaces but also on adding complementary outdoor areas as well.
There’s a nice feeling of continuity between all the spaces, both old and new and that brings them all together in a beautiful and harmonious way while also allowing them to preserve their independence from each other. The link between all of them is the dining area which connects not only the interior areas but also the outdoor ones as well. There’s a small breakfast terrace to the South, a garden to the West and lush greenery all around. This is a project that celebrates the history and the beauty of the old house but also the modern and vibrant nature of the new additions. Each of the spaces has its own individuality while also becoming a part of the whole.
