Minimalistic Step House by 05 AM Arquitectura

Just because the traditional house design is on clearly defined floors or levels, this doesn’t mean this structure can’t be changed. The Step House is the perfect example for that. With a terraced design for both the exterior and the interior, this particular house has a contemporary and minimalist design that makes it stand out even when it’s empty.

The house was designed by 05 AM Arquitectura and it’s located in a small Spanish village in Girona. It’s a split-level modern home, with ground level and a main level and with an intermediate one in between. The transition from one level to the other is very smooth and natural. The house was designed to align with the north and south elements. This means that the north of the houses faces the old village while the south is facing the pool, garden and natural landscape.

There are two entries to the house, a ground entrance on the first floor and a lower one from the garden. The stepped floors add some dynamism to the design and they also have a practical functional, dividing the spaces in the house. The garage is a sort of transitional space from the outdoor to the indoor areas. The intermediate level houses the leisure and study areas, while the main level includes the kitchen, living room and the terrace.
