Magnificent Summer House In Greece Built With Stone Dug From The Site

Located in Mykonos, in Greece, this beautiful summer house looks absolutely amazing. It has a modest overall aesthetic ensured by many of the traditional materials which have been used throughout the entire site and it blends into the local vernacular by maintaining a simple look and by being organized into several small volumes rather than a single large one which would have otherwise dominated the landscape.

Villa Mandra, as this place is called, was designed and built by K Studio(Dimitris Karampatakis, Ileana Vlassopoulou, Alexandros Zomas, Antonella Theodorakatou, Christos Papachristodoulou, Christos Spetseris) and the project was completed earlier this year. There are three volumes in total. Two are smaller whitewashed spaces and the other one is made out of stone which has been dug from the site. You can also see various large rocks and boulders spread across the site and incorporated into the beautiful design of this lovely holiday retreat.

The entire property was designed in such a way to allow the owners and their guests to be able to enjoy the outdoors and the gorgeous views throughout the day without being overwhelmed by the heat and the overpowering sunlight. As such, the three volumes that we mentioned are arranged around a central courtyard with a large traditional chestnut pergola. This is the focal point of the entire house and it’s a nice shaded spot protected from the elements from where to enjoy the outdoors and to admire the beautiful views. The house as a whole has an efficient layout, featuring a clear separation between the social and the private areas. Furthermore, it’s a very nice blend of traditional and contemporary elements. The hand-built stone walls are magnificent and give it tons of character while the interior has a modern and refined feel.
