Located within a reconstructed industrial building from Kaunas, in Lithuania, this modern loft gives a new meaning to the idea of minimalism by taking advantage of its location and of the overall architecture and character of the building. The apartment’s interior design is the work of studio IDwhite. They focused a lot on preserving as many raw elements as possibles, the goal being to put an emphasis on the strong industrial character of the space. Even so, the interior design is not in any way unwelcoming and that’s thanks to the carefully selected palette of materials and finishes.
The apartment is mostly defined by a monochromatic palette, featuring lots of warm neutrals combined with rich natural materials such as wood, metal, glass and concrete and, of course, what is a loft without a high ceiling and open spaces? A floating staircase with glass railings leads to the loft bed area, making sure to maintain an airy and transparent decor. Dimmable LED lights directed towards the ceiling ensure a soft and very pleasant and luminous ambiance throughout the apartment while at the same time highlighting the columns which have been left exposed as a way to balance the decor.
