City Heights is the latest project completed by architecture studio SAOTA in collaboration with interior design firm ARRCC. It’s a beautiful mountainside house located in Cape Town. Its design and architecture are a harmonious blend of minimalism and custom geometry, the building featuring an angular structure and a gorgeous mix of linear and curved surfaces which designs both the interior and exterior design. The spaces are organized on three floors. The lower level houses all the guest bedrooms while the living area occupies the middle floor and the master suite the top floor. This organization allows the owners to have their own private penthouse even when the house is full of guests.
The entrance hall welcomes one into a wonderfully inviting decor defined by walnut paneling and marble-like flooring while a custom woolen rug with a geometric pattern sets the tone for the dynamic decor of the living room. At the same time, the overall impression is that of a sophisticated yet at the same time very comfortable space. The interior design as a whole combines metallic surfaces, warm wood and vivid colors. The living area has a double-volume glass staircase and open onto a terrace which can be entirely closed off whenever required. The open kitchen and dining area are also part of the main living space. The master bedroom occupies the top floor and has a welcoming yet slightly masculine appearance complemented by stunning views.
