The house was bough by Lorena Siminovich and Esteban Kerner in a time when Lorena was expecting a baby. It wasn’t the best time to be looking for a home but the opportunity presented itself so they decided to start this complex project. At that time, the house had crumbly brick cladding, peeling paint, very ugly garage doors and lots of other things that desperately needed a change. It wasn’t the exterior that the couple paid attention to but the interior. Even though it still needed a lot of work, it seemed very inviting and appealing.

The couple decided to buy the 1,485-square-foot residence and to make it their home. The house needed a renovation and it had to be drastic. Still, some of the original elements managed to be saved. For example, the exposed wooden rafters and grid of windows in the living are original. The house has last been renovated in 1955. It had old furniture and musty rugs and it desperately needed a makeover.
