Impressive loft renovation by ixdesign

In New York City’s West Village once was a poor apartment in bad need of a renovation. It was 1.050 sq ft loft-like apartment with an old design and limited natural light. The apartment sits on 130 Barrow Street and the building it’s part of wasn’t always an apartment complex. The structure was originally built in 1931 as a truck garage. It stayed like that until 1983 when it was converted into condominiums.

This particular apartment was later renovated by ixdesign. The limited natural light and outdated décor were turned into the beautiful design you see now. The apartment now has larger windows and more storage space that was created wither by carving or augmenting the irregular space.

The interior was painted in a neutral tone of white. This way the décor is the only one standing out. Even though the walls are cold and neutral, the furniture and the other decorative elements work together to create a warm feeling and an inviting atmosphere. The apartment was conceived as a warm retreat where the owners could come to relax and to enjoy being with their family. The interior is simple but yet quietly sophisticated and elegant. It’s a very successful adaptation of an outdated space to a modern and inviting home.
