Located in Óbidos, Portugal, this stunning residence is a project completed in 2018 by studio [i]da arquitectos. It sits just meters from the Obidos Lagoon and it gets to enjoy magnificent views. The orientation and structure of the spaces were specifically created to take advantage of everything this site has to offer. With a total of 272 square metes of living space, the house is organized into two main volumes. There’s a daytime area and a nighttime area and the’re both equally beautiful. The social spaces form the day zone and are clustered on a single floor with easy access outdoors while the private areas, a gym and a home office form the night zone, being spread across two floors.
To the South the house overlooks the Natural Ecological Reserve Park and its main spaces are oriented towards it, taking advantage of the abundant sunlight which comes in through the large windows as well as the strong relationship with the beautiful landscape which they frame. There are two entrances, one defined by a horizontal opening and the other by a vertical opening, both clad in wood which by the way is the dominant materials featured all throughout the residence. Furthermore, the rooftop acts as a large terrace, emphasizing the bond between architecture and nature even more.
