An Organic House Surrounded by Artificially-Created Landscape

It’s usually the buildings that are designed in response to the landscape and the topography, not the other way around which is why this project is so unusual and intriguing. It’s one of the few houses that make use of what’s known as organic architecture. The idea behind this amazing project completed by studio Niko Architect earlier this year was to establish a strong and natural connection between architecture and site by integrating the building into artificially-created landscape. In other words, the reason why these two elements complement each other so perfectly is because they were designed this way. The 300 square meter house was shaped from the outside in while carefully planning the layout and all the interior design details.

Located in Russia, the house seems to completely blue the boundaries between the indoor and the outdoor and to become one with the landscape. Everything is balanced and there’s a sense of continuity between all the different spaces as well as between the internal and external areas. Inside, all the functional zones are combined and form a single large space within which different sections can be easily distinguished. Panoramic windows that curve and follow the organic shape of the house frame beautiful views and ensure a strong visual connection between the indoor and the outdoors.

The interior design is simple and artistic, with subtle Japanese influences and symbolic forms throughout. The living room has a sunken sitting area which creates a sense of comfort and intimacy without relying on dividing walls or additional features. A lot of furniture pieces are beautiful works of art and can easily double as decorations. All of these details embrace the big theme, that of organic architecture and natural design.
