The proud owners of this modern new house located in Vilnius, Lithuania always wanted to live of a property with a small river or creek so they would be able to enjoy nature and to become a part of it, letting its beauty or serenity embrace the home from all sides. Their dream became reality when ArchLAB studio completed this wonderful project. The house is built on a lot surrounded by nature, with pine forests on two sides and with a river running through, dividing the property into two parts.
Large windows and open layouts immerse the two volumes into the surroundings, bringing the outdoors inThe indoor living areas as well as the private spaces have access to wooden decks and terracesThe overall architecture and design of the house are simple and reduced to a few main materials including stone, wood and glass
The house was organized into two main volumes. One is the main home with all the major spaces and common features and the other one is a small guest house. These volumes are connected with an open bridge. Wooden deck spaces make the transition between indoor and outdoor areas as well as between the volumes smooth and seamless. The architects also incorporated the existing trees into their design, allowing them to pass through the roofs. As far as the interior design is concerned, the house is simple, refined and full of cool and elegant features such as marble kitchen island and matching backsplash, an open fireplace, sleek platform beds and a round bathtub.
Surrounded by nature and pine trees from all sides, the house blends in and dialogues with its surroundings in a very natural wayMarble accents complement the white walls, wooden floors and full-height windows present throughout the houseThe main house is connected to a smaller guest house through an open, covered bridgeThe trees existent on the site were preserved and allowed to grow through the decks and roofs of the houseThe designers tried to allow a cozy and calm atmosphere to define all the sections of the house, including the bathroomsAn open fireplace makes the deck feel extra cozy. There’s a tree growing through the deckLarge windows brings the outdoors in and long fabric curtains offer privacy when neededThe bridge connecting the two volumes passes through the garden and has a very zen lookAlthough the landscape is not particularly spectacular, it impacts the house and the property in a strong mannerThe simplicity of the interior design allows the focus to be on the views and on the serene ambianceThe overall geometry and the architecture of the house stand out and contrast with the landscapeThe kitchen is designed in black and white and has a stylish marble island with a waterfall countertopThe master bathroom is spacious but looks and feels very welcoming thanks to the wall and floor tilesBoth volumes of the house offer a perfect combination of indoor and outdoor features, with a focus on comfort and tranquility
