Modern House In Texas Inspired By Old Barns And Stables
Located in Austin, Texas this residence brings together elements of modern design combined with industrial and rustic details, barn-inspired details and references to local structures typical to the rural Texas region. At the same time, the house is also reminiscent of a loft-style apartment which ultimately gives it an eclectic look and makes it perfect for its owners.
The house is organized on two floors with one section being a double-height volume. Details such as the cedar siding, the steel window frames and the exposed wooden beams which have a rustic-industrial character are complemented by a variety of modern features such as the large windows or the bare concrete flooring and together this symphony of styles creates a very pleasant vibe throughout the house.
The renovation was done by Pavonetti Architecture and the interior of the house is simple and features elements such as white walls, a vaulted ceiling, a rich color palette, and complementary textures and materials. The staircase which connects the two floors was built on site out of plate steel, expanded metal, and pine wood. The leftover steel was used on furniture pieces such as the entryway console table and the bathroom sink vanities. The abundance of natural light coming through the windows ensures a bright and inviting ambiance and in the bedrooms and bathrooms, the privacy is ensured by frosted glass panels.
