Beautiful Summer House Greece Half Hidden Within A Slope
The Secret Garden House is an amazing summer residence designed and built by studio Scapearchitecture. The special thing about this project was the way in which the building was integrated into its natural surroundings.
There’s a beautiful symbiotic relationship between architecture and nature and, as the name suggests, this is not unlike a secret retreat within a large garden. The site on which it’s built has a slope which the architects took advantage of. They designed the house as a semi-underground structure surrounded by greenery and with a view towards the sea. On the South side of the house there’s a small olive grove and to the East there’s a cluster of pine trees and these mark the boundaries of the site while also creating a wonderful feeling of immersion in nature.
This beautiful summer house is located on Paros island in Greece and was completed in 2019. It’s reached via a pathway going through the olive grove and it’s a harmonious mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. The main outdoor area is positioned at the highest point which allows it to make the most of the view towards the sea and the Antiparos Island in the distance. The interior is organized into a series of common and private areas. There’s an open-plan kitchen seamlessly combined with the living room, two guest bedrooms and a master suite with a lovely outdoor shower on its own private patio. The outdoor functions include a sunbathing deck, a shallow pond and a social area underneath the pergola, sheltered from the wind and with a view of the garden.
