This is the story of how a Victorian terraced house from London, in the UK was renovated and extended, eventually becoming this light-filled modern home with a stylish and exquisite interior. The transformation was done by Studio 30 Architects who worked closely with the clients to find the best solutions and ideas and to offer the perfect blend of looks and functionality while staying within a small budget. The house extension establishes a strong bond between the internal spaces and the outdoors, being built mostly out of glass. It adds a new dining area and a fresh, updated kitchen, the two spaces now being combined into one.
Large windows, skylights and glass doors give the extension a very bright and airy appearance. Of course, some changes were made to the design of the original house as well. The whole structure was updated with large openings and a more seamless and fluid transition between spaces. Some of the walls were removed and a new entryway was set up as part of the extension. The architects were also careful to preserve the original features of existing house whenever deemed practical and as a result the floor boards were simply re-oiled, allowing the house to maintain some of its original charm.
